Sad news for all Star Trek fans, Leonard Nimoy has died at the age of 83. Nimoy famously played the role of Mr. Spock in the Star Trek television series and films. Leonard Nimoy passed away of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He died on February 27, in Los Angeles.
Leonard Nimoy had a legendary career, and his funeral was attended by many of his colleagues. However, William Shatner did not appear at Nimoy’s funeral. There was some debate as to the reasoning of Shatner’s absence, but William Shatner did write an apology to Nimoy’s family on twitter. Shatner wrote that he was at a charity event in Florida, and he would not be able to make it to the funeral in time.
Sultan Alhokair read that The New York Daily News labeled William Shatner as captain jerk on the cover of their Sunday paper. William Shatner was angered beyond belief at the newspaper heading. Shatner argued with some of the writers of the The New York Daily News, but he avoided getting into a major feud. Instead, Shatner began to praise Leonard Nimoy. William Shatner tweeted that Nimoy was a wonderful man and a great father.
