The cancer fighting firm, Tempus, which is from Erick Lefkofsky the founder of Groupon, will provide doctors from the University of Chicago with data that will assist in treating patients with breast cancer. Tempus, which is based in Chicago, have partnered with University of Chicago Medicine so as to offer molecular analysis and sequencing to breast cancer specialists at the Chicago. This data will help the doctors to come up with treatment plans that are personalized for patients. According to Tempus, the data will be analyzed from approximately one thousand patients who have breast cancer. This will assist both researchers and doctors in uncovering patterns that will predict the manner in which patients respond to the treatment.
Tempus has said that the goal of this data is to over time assist in enhanced patient outcomes and better treatment. DrOlufunmilayoOlopade, who is the professor of human genetics and medicine at the University of Chicago, stated that there is little data on cancer patients, although this type of cancer is one of the most popular forms of cancer. DrOlopade added that they were extremely excited in partnering with Tempus and that they were eager to support the initiative so as to create the biggest molecular data that is clinically annotated in breast cancer.
In order to assist doctors in making treatment decisions that are personalized and real-time, Tempus uses genomic sequencing and machine learning. Founded in 2015, Tempus has its headquarters in 600 W. Chicago.
