The Tonight Show was put on hold on Friday due to an injury sustained by host Jimmy Fallon. Apparently he severely injured his ring finger, and was rushed to an emergency room for treatment. He later posted pictures of the injury to his fans, after the Tonight Show was cancelled for the week. Fans who had tickets for the show were told they will get to see the show at a later date.
The injury that the host sustained is still a mystery. Fallon has been known to play beer pong with his guests and fans, and no one is quite sure if alcohol played a part in the injury he sustained. After NBC cancelled the Friday taping of the show, they decided that they would put the show on hold for 3 weeks after getting word of the severity of the injury. Brad Reifler (reuters.com) has learned that ring finger injuries are very common in the country, as machinery and such get stuck on the ring and in many cases can take the finger clean off.
When it was discovered that the finger had almost been ripped from the hand, NBC decided to play on the side of caution and take the show off the air until the host was better. Fallon already responded to many fan questions by saying he is doing fine and will be back at the job as quickly as possible to continue with his love affair gig.
Spider-Man is a big part of the Marvel comic book world and a major player on the box office stage. Since the character will be pretty much shared between the Marvel movie universe and Sony for the foreseeable future, finding the perfect actor to play Spidey and his alter ego Peter Parker is a pretty intense process. The added pressure of the character appearing in “Captain America: Civil War” is another pressure factor, because the movie is getting ready to start filming.
According to Screen Rant, five actors have been short listed for the chance at a career making (or ruining) turn. The list includes: Nat Wolff, Asa Butterfield, Tom Holland, Timothee Chalamat, and Liam James. Of course, whether or not any of the actors gets the role is a matter of rumor versus fact, which is nothing new in the super hero box office world of today. The big noticeable factor is that the actors are much younger than Tobey Maguire at 26 or Andrew Garfield at 28 for the role, which signals a massive reboot for Spider-Man.
The question of whether or not fans like Sam Tabar will join in on another rebooted Spider-Man story is what should really concern Marvel and Sony. With two tales in recent memory, taking the character through the death of Uncle Ben yet again could get a little stale. Of course, the asset the character could be in the Marvel world could be massive, but getting the right actor is really the first step. With any luck the studios sort it out soon.
With this week’s release of the second “The Force Awakens” trailer, the Star Wars community is as energized and excited as they have been in years – if not decades. Harrison Ford’s reveal in the last couple of seconds of the trailer felt especially triumphant, giving fans a tantalizing taste of the story that they have been waiting for since 1983’s “Return of the Jedi.” And when it rains it pours: because in addition to the new trailer, Star Wars fans – especially fans of the original trilogy – have been treated to another exciting bit of news this week: Marvel Comics has announced a new comic series featuring fan favorite Lando Calrissian. StarWars.com has announced that the first issue in the series will hit comic book shops this July in Boraie Development LLC stores. The stories will center on Lando’s adventures before his appearance in Empire Strikes Back, at a time when the character had yet to develop the deep conscience and sense of responsibility that saw him pledging his prowess as a star ship captain to the Rebel alliance. This week has certainly been one of the most exciting for Star Wars fans in recent memory!
Perhaps seeing the box office success Marvel has had, DC Comics and their business partners are hard at work expanding their franchise onto the big screen. They already saw some success with “Man of Steel,” and now a sequel to this movie is planned for release in a year. It will be called “Batman V Superman,” and there is much speculation swirling around about it. The most basic point of speculation, of course, is that both of these characters are supposed to be good guys, so what is with the “V” between their names in this latest movie? There is some speculation on screenrant.com about how these two heroes initially come to blows. At first, it was thought that Batman would be going after Superman, but the latest rumors indicate it will be the other way around.
Fans at Anastasia Date (facebook.com) already assume they know that Superman and Batman will end up reconciling and getting together with other DC comic universe characters and forming the Justice League. Fans of the justice league cartoon as kids will be looking forward to DC expanding their comic universe onto the big screen to bring us future adventures of this band of superheroes. First, we have the Avengers films and the spin-off for each of their characters. Then we get new Star Wars films coming from Disney. Now, DC comics will be expanding onto the big screen with more of their characters. Fans of science-fiction and action-adventure are going to be loving the next few years worth of theatrical releases.
Rumors from ComicBook.com are that director David Ayer (Fury) is putting together his cast for his new film featuring the super-villain group, Suicide Squad.
Joe Manganiello is currently the top choice for the villainous character Slade “Deathstroke” Wilson. Deathstroke is the villain from Arrow. In the Arrow universe, Deathstroke was the former leader of the Church of Blood as well as a former member of the Australian Secret Intelligence Service. Jason Halpern knows that he was once a friend and mentor to Oliver Queen (the Green Arrow) but turned on him.
Manganiello is probably best known for his role as the werewolf Alcide Herveaux on HBO’s hit show True Blood or from the movie Magic Mike. Sources say that Manganiello has the part if he wants it however if he turns it down Jason Clarke may be the next choice.
David Ayers will begin shooting for Suicide Squad in the next month or so. The film has a release date of August 5th, 2016 at this time.
