Eva Moskowitz – Giving Low Income Students a Second Chance

Eva Moskowitz is the founder and CEO of Success Academy Charter Schools, which is the largest, as well as the highest-ranked public charter school in New York City today. Eva Moskowitz opened the first charter school in 2006 with one mission in mind: to prove to the world that just because a child has come from a low-income household, it does not mean that the child can not obtain the same academic achievements as that of a child who is being raised in a middle or high-income family.

Success Academy Charter school gives an otherwise non-existent option to parents, who’s children could be attending a failing school where they are not given the tools needed to be successful. As of today, Eva Moskowitz has helped open an additional 45 schools. They help create opportunities for the students that attend, as well as the staff. Because of the large number of staff members that it takes to operate a school, it creates a variety of jobs for the people of New York City. From janitors to teachers, each school that is opened is creating contingency for everyone that steps through the doors.

Eva Moskowitz has become an advocate for the children that have aimed for accomplishment and have been defeated because previous school have not been able to cater to their intelligence. The forty-six Success Academy Charter Schools, which have more than 15,000 students within their walls, have the highest academic ratings among public charter schools in New York City. Eva Moskowitz has been a teacher, college professor, elected official, and so much more. It is these experiences that have given her the skills she needs to successfully and confidently operate charter school‘s that are producing results such as these.
