James Dondero Announces $1M Challenge Grant for The Family Place

In a recent announcement, Financial powerhouse Highland Street Capital and its genius-in-Chief James Dondero made public the plans that the organization has put in place to help fud the remaining portion of the fund-raising campaign underway by The Family Place, the leader in the Dallas area serving victims of family violence. The fund-raising initiative, which is geared toward the completion of The Family Place’s Legacy Campaign, which is earmarked toward the construction of the Ann Moody Center, is now all but guaranteed to finish strong thanks to a 50% matching challenge grant which has been issued from Highland Street Capital through its Philanthropic arm The Highland Dallas Foundation.


The Ann Moody Center is a vital need expansion project for The Family Place which serves more than 2000 victims of family violence every year. The new center will provide not only counseling space, but also emergency shelter space in the form of 13 bedrooms. There will also be multiple private and group counseling rooms for adults and children, a centralized hotline/call center, a multi-purpose space for job-training programs, as well as a medical and dental clinic. It is a necessary expansion for the organization which provides much needed and highly important support for those who suffer from the effects of family violence in the greater Dallas area. The new center will also be the home of the organization’s new BE Program, which focuses on ending the cycle of bullying as well as the prevention of teen dating violence.


The announcement of the challenge grant from Highland Street Capital was made by James Dondero himself at The Family Place’s 21st Annual Texas Trailblazer Awards Luncheon. The grant will match at 50% all funds raised from the announcement date of October 4, 2016 to the closing date of the campaign on April 4, 2017. This will ensure that the final $2.8M of the campaign is raised and that the program finishes well above its goals and on time.
