To give your heart to a worthy cause that helps people is an important part of the human experience, and dentist Avi Weisfogel has found a non-profit worthy of his passions. Avi’s GoFundMe page for Operation Smile hopes to raise $2,000 for the non-profit aimed at helping children in other countries who do not have access to or cannot afford medical care. The non-profit’s main expertise is to provide surgery for cleft lip and palate as well as other facial deformities. Started in the 1980’s, Operation Smile was the combined efforts of husband and wife team William and Kathleen Magee. After a mission trip to the Philippines, the Magees were troubled by how many children needed safe surgery for facial deformities. They returned to the country founding Operation Smile to help as many people as possible. Avi Weisfogel’s heart lies with the charity since he also believes all children should have access to safe medical care. The non-profit works with local medical facilities in the countries they visit to ensure safe and quality medical procedures can be performed on the children involved in the charity.
Avi Weisfogel is a celebrated medical professional himself as a dentist in New Jersey. After receiving his bachelors from Rutgers and DDS from New York University College of Dentistry, Avi Weisfogel bought out a practice from a dentist who had his license pulled. Avi grew the practice and became well known and liked. He sold the practice for a profit, and after a short stint at another practice, he returned to his passion of helping patients with sleeping disorders. The road was long and hard to become a dentist practicing mostly with sleep patients.
Sleep apnea is treated in many different ways usually with CPAP machines with a sleep specialist not at a dentist’s office. Avi Weisfogel would occasionally get patients he was recommended to, but Avi wasn’t satisfied with only a few and knew there were more people he could help by making dental appliances specifically for sleep apnea. After long years of hard work and research, Avi came up with a business plan to get the amount of sleep apnea patients he was hoping for. To celebrate his success he decided to teach other dentists his secret not wanting to keep all the success for himself. Owner Unlimited Sleep Patients was founded for the sole purpose of teaching other dentists how to treat sleep patients. With a generous heart, Avi hopes to support Operation Smile as well as help other professionals achieve success.
