Avi Weisfogel, D.D.S. Promotes Treatment for Sleep Apnea

Avi Weisfogel, D.D.S., has launched a GoFundMe Campaign to benefit the Operation Smile organization. It is part of an international medical charity that has been providing needed surgical procedures for children around the world. Care is also provided to young adults who suffer from Cleft Palate, facial deformities and cleft lips. The goal of Operation Smile is to help young children with deformities to get a fresh start, so they can function better throughout the rest of their lives, and feel better about themselves. They strive to give each child a hopeful future. The organization works with medical professionals, hospitals and governments to create ways to serve the needs of children. They conduct medical missions around the world each year. Bill and Kathy Magee started the organization in 1982.

Dr. Avi Weisfogel, is the founder of New Jersey, Dental Sleep Masters. He has an expertise in sleep treatment and disorders. He started Old Bridge Dental Care, in 1999. He was voted “Best Dentist” for several years. He began exploring the problem of sleep disorders, and studied how dentists and doctors can help those suffering from it. In 2010 he started Healthy Heart Sleep, a sleep lab. In 2012, Owner Unlimited Sleep Patient was started by Dr. Weisfogel, to help other dentists learn about sleep disorders and how oral appliances can help treat them.

Sleep disorders, including sleep apnea causes a disruption in breathing during sleep that disrupts restful sleep. It happens when the airway becomes blocked, which causes the sufferer to awaken suddenly. Patients can suffer from lack of sleep which causes other health problems.

Dr. Weisfogel received a Bachelor’s Degree in biology and psychology from Rutgers University. He earned a D.D.S. from New York University. His interest in sleep apnea has allowed him to get involved with many other dentists and physicians to develop treatments for the condition.
